So we purchased our matching LG WM2501HVA Washer and LG DLEX2501V Dryer, both with steam features, approximately six months ago. I originally did a lot of online research, looking at the Samsung models as well as the LG products. In the end Home Depot was offering a deal on the matched LG set and as far as I was concerned, the LG products seemed to have a slight edge with all the customer reviews that I read about.
We have been extremely happy with our choices. Some of the most common complaints that I read about online with front-loaders, i.e., vibration and mildew around the washer seals, have simply not been an issue. The cleaning capabilities have been outstanding. Our clothes feel better, look better and smell better. The use of High Efficiency (HE) detergent (required) has reduced our consumable expenses. While I have not checked the electrical usage, my sense is that these machines may in fact use less electrical energy than our old devices simply because the cycle times seem to be shorter.
While we have still not used 100% of the functionality of either machine, I have tried the sanitary wash cycle on the washer several times and do perceive a benefit.
Maintenance has not been an issue as nothing has been required (a good thing).
Overall we are extremely satisfied, both with the LG washer and dryer and with the deal we got at Home Depot.
As we continue to use some of the other functions, I will provide an update. Bottom-Line, if you are thinking about taking the plunge on these new front end load type devices with steam functionality and anti-vibration technology - Go for it. You will not regret it. And we love the electronic tunes that both the washer and dryer make at the start and ending of the cycles.
